I will prepare for times of need so that I will be in a position to help others
In order to be in a position to help others, the most important thing is to have your spiritual life and that of your household in order. This doesn’t mean just going to church every week, praying before meals, and hanging up bible verses in your house. But consistently delving into the Word of God, devoting your life to obeying His commands, and developing a true relationship with God himself. This way you will be spiritually prepared for difficulty and be in a position to help and lead others in their walk with God during hard times. Luke 21:36, “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”
There is a saying that ties well with this idea of preparing for times of need and helping others, ‘the best way to help the poor is to not be one yourself.’ The point is that if you want to be ready to help others, you first have to be in the right position yourself, and that takes planning, hard work, and saving. And if you are prepared, then in times of hunger you will be a shining light of hope to all those around you, Isaiah 58:10, “Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.”
Ensure to start a preparedness plan for your household because that is where it starts, as it says in 1 Timothy 5:8, “Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” The goal is to have more then enough to be able to provide for your immediate family during times of famine, drought, natural disaster, disease, and protest/war. We cannot possibly prepare for everything, but we can do our best to be ready for what the Lord has clearly told us is ahead.
We might not know when these things will happen, or to what extent they will occur, but we are fools if we do not heed the Lord’s warnings as did Noah, Joseph, the Israelites, and other brothers before us.
Store up food when the times are good. Buy food that can be stored for a number of years; to cycle a year’s worth of food and give it away or eat it every 5 years is less then $50 dollars per month. Preferably buy this food in buckets so that it can easily be shipped and distributed by those in need. A good example is the My Patriot Supply emergency food storage kits. Proverbs 21:20, “The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.”
Purchase portable water purification tablets and filters.
Plan how you will respond to local natural disasters, know if there are safe places in the house to be and where to evacuate to if needed. Make a plan for helping other areas recover from natural disasters.
Have supplies and a plan for living without electricity for an extended amount of time. Our enemies now hold the technology to shut down our entire power grid in a matter of seconds. One act of war against our electronic infrastructure would completely cripple our nation.
Have a plan for protecting you and your family from potential crime.
Start eating healthier, making healthier lifestyle choices so as to better fight off diseases and be ready for hard manual labor when needed.
Learn basic first aid and herbal remedies as well as have a supply of industry produced health products.
These are simple truths from life and the Scriptures. These things are to come, they will happen, and we must do what we can to heed the warnings the Lord has provided us, so that we may help not only our own families and loves ones, but so that we can help others in need through these hard times as well. Romans 12:13, “Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”
If you are to be in a position to help in times of need, it begins with an understanding that these times can and will come. Then it takes continued study and work to buy/make the equipment that can be used or shared when needed. Reading the books below and following the links will guide you in that task.
